Mr. Kevin Facey
Principal
Meadowbrook High School started with a vision, two persons: Reverends Margaret ‘Madge’ Saunders and Henry Ward, who saw the need for a co-educational secondary institution in an emerging residential area. They both believed that boys and girls should receive quality education and be exposed to Christian values. Others such as Reverend Douglas Rothnie, a Missionary from Scotland who served in Jamaica, Margaret Garthshore our first Principal, Reverend William McGhie- Deputy Headmaster and many others joined the work and laid an excellent foundation in the first decade of the school.
Meadowbrook High School creates a space where students are able to strive for excellence in the arts, academics, service and sports. The school we experience today was built on the care, passion and committed support of teachers – Mrs. C. McLennon, Mrs. Augustine, Mr. Burke, Mrs. Headlam, Mrs. J. Jackson, Mr. Heaven, Mr. Chin, Mrs. C. Smith-Dennis, Non- academic staff like caretaker ‘Manius’, even honourary staff such as ‘Peckah’ and various alumni. Meadowbrook High school has become a family for children from diverse backgrounds and communities guided by the ethos “Ita Splendeat Lvx Vestra” – ‘Let Your Light So Shine’ taken from the scripture Matthew 5: 16.
Meadowbrook High School has won sporting titles in Football, Cricket, Baseball, Netball, Athletics over the years. Additionally, our past students have been awarded Rhodes and Chevening Scholarships as well as Bursaries and Grants from prestigious institutions. Our graduates have gone onto distinguished careers in the creative and performing arts having nurtured their talents in J.C.D.C. competitions and school events.
Meadowbrook High School is the place where students find their talents, develop expertise and competencies before engaging their communities and the wider world as agents of positive change. We can only continue this work through the collaboration of all stakeholders, working in tandem for the wholistic development of our children. We welcome you to our school and encourage you to walk alongside our children as we develop the light within them.
Welcome to the family that is Meadowbrook High School.
— Mr. Kevin Facey, Principal
Four commitments shaping our work
Character
We form young people of conscience and courage — students whose integrity is steady whether they are observed or alone.
Opportunity
Every child deserves a fair chance to discover and pursue their gifts. We work hard to widen the doors of opportunity.
Excellence
We pursue our best in every endeavour — academic, co-curricular, and personal — knowing that excellence is a habit, not an accident.
Service
We use our gifts for the good of others. Service is the truest measure of a Meadowbrook education.
