"Opportunity is nowhere (now here)"
former Principal Michael Peart
Welcome
Meadowbrook High School started with a vision, two persons: Reverends Margaret ‘Madge’ Saunders and Henry Ward, who saw the need for a co-educational secondary institution in an emerging residential area. They both believed that boys and girls should receive quality education and be exposed to Christian values. Others such as Reverend Douglas Rothnie, a Missionary from Scotland who served in Jamaica, Margaret Garthshore our first Principal, Reverend William McGhie- Deputy Headmaster and many others joined the work and laid an excellent foundation in the first decade of the school.
Meadowbrook High School creates a space where students are able to strive for excellence in the arts, academics, service and sports. The school we experience today was built on the care, passion and committed support of teachers - Mrs. C. McLennon, Mrs. Augustine, Mr. Burke, Mrs. Headlam, Mrs. J. Jackson, Mr. Heaven, Mr. Chin, Mrs. C. Smith-Dennis, Non- academic staff like caretaker ‘Manius’, even honourary staff such as ‘Peckah’ and various alumni. Meadowbrook High school has become a family for children from diverse backgrounds and communities guided by the ethos “Ita Splendeat Lvx Vestra” – ‘Let Your Light So Shine’ taken from the scripture Matthew 5: 16.
